Recipe: Jan’s Best-Ever Snickerdoodles

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup soft shortening
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2-3/4 cups sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven to 400°.

Mix butter, shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly.

Sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt, and stir into butter-sugar mixture.

Roll into walnut-sized balls, then roll balls in a mixture of 2 Tbsp. sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon.

Bake until lightly browned but soft, about 8-10 minutes.
